Abstract

EN The contemporary security environment can be characterised by multiple challenges – both in military and non-military sphere – that NATO must face. These challenges entail the necessity of the Alliance to adapt itself through increasing the military and civilian capability, that will allow an efficient deterrence, and response if necessary. That, in consequence, requires the member states to properly modernise their armed forces, increase their non-military defence capabilities, and – most of all – to build up the allied solidarity and the willingness to act.
