Abstract
EN The article presents the results of a study conducted between 2023 and 2024 on a sample of 276 students from Poland and Latvia, aimed at identifying the motives behind choosing a military career. The analysis encompassed three groups of motives: those related to the role of the military in the state and society, employment conditions and professional development, as well as personal and social motivation. The findings indicate that approximately half of the Polish students and one third of the Latvian students had considered joining the military. Respondents from both countries emphasized the importance of specific factors, with the interpretation of results requiring consideration of cultural and social contexts. The outcomes point to the need for further research in other countries to deepen the understanding of military career motivations and support the development of the military’s image as an employer.
PL W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w latach 2023-2024 na próbie 276 studentów z Polski i Łotwy, których celem była identyfikacja motywów wyboru kariery wojskowej. Analizie poddano trzy grupy motywów, w tym związane z rolą wojska w państwie i społeczeństwie, warunkami zatrudnienia i rozwojem zawodowym oraz z motywacją osobistą i społeczną. Z badań wynika, że wstąpienie do wojska rozważała około połowa studentów z Polski i jedna trzecia z Łotwy. Studenci obu krajów wskazywali na istotność określonych czynników, przy czym interpretacja wyników wymagała uwzględnienia kontekstu kulturowego i społecznego. Uzyskane rezultaty wskazują na potrzebę dalszych badań w innych krajach, co pozwoli lepiej zrozumieć motywy wyboru kariery wojskowej i wspierać budowanie wizerunku wojska jako pracodawcy.
