EN The challenge of the Polish labour market is the insufficient supply of employees with appropriate qualifications and a relatively low unemployment rate (in April 2019 the unemployment rate was at the level of 5.2%1 , compared to 2014 it was 6.2 p. p. lower) and at the same time a relatively low professional activity rate of 56.3% (Labour market human capital development strategy) and a constant motivation of Poles to work abroad. One of the recent trends on the Polish labour market is the employment of citizens from the eastern border, with students of higher education institutions are becoming more and more numerous. The aim of this article is to present the results of research on the competence potencial inherent in the ìgroup of potential employmentî in Poland, which are mainly students from Ukraine. The first part presents the perspective of the quality needs of the Polish employer (in particular the expectations of employers as to the competence of employees) and the supply potential of foreign students, including those from Ukraine. The second part presents the results of the pilot study on professional values and development factors in the opinion of Ukrainian students. In the final part, the results of the pilot study on professional values and development factors were presented in the opinion of Ukrainian students.
