EN Securing the safety of children and young peeople in secondary schools in the context of terrorist threat

EN The paper is an analytical study which involves the following issues: terrorist threats as a challenge, terrorist threats in Europe and Poland, and terrorism prevention in secondary schools. After relevant argumentation of the policymakers’ needs concerning terrorist threats, the author discusses different ways of how to counteract these threats in secondary schools. The analysis is based on extensive source literature, with characteristics of terrorist threats being presented by listing features and attributes which uniquely indicate them. The author’s major contribution was conducting empirical research on a reliable research sample. It is worth observing that the author attempted to offer her own ideas of how to behave and what moves can be made by head teachers and teaching staff during hypothetical acts of terrorism. The author's considerations are the reflection of current knowledge about terrorism in the area of scientific exploration related to preparing children and young people for this type of emergency.Taking account of the presented issues, the paper is bound to be interesting for people who deal with terrorism as a current challenge.
