EN Immigration-driven population growth has a considerable impact on schools. The aim of this paper is to investigate factors associated with successful integration of immigrant students: student safety and integration policies. More specifically, the study focuses on the following research questions: (1) To what extent does safety in the classroom affect successful integration of immigrant students? (2) What are the educational solutions adopted by schools in the countries that are the most successful at educating foreign students? (3) Do safety in the classroom and integration policies affect educational attainment of immigrant students? The study shows that creating safe space in the classroom empowers learners and facilitates their development. It is a space that enables learners to take risk and tackle challenging issues. Furthermore, immigration policies foster the integration of migrants and help them achieve academic success. In fact, strict immigration policy and effective integration policies are the key indicators of high academic performance of immigrant children. In increasingly diverse schools, policy interventions should aim at providing language, social and emotional support. The analysis also provides implications for migration governance.
