Abstract
EN This aim of the paper is to examine the question of sustainable communities. The author discusses the basic safety terms and public order. Moreover, the article also provides an insight into the current set of legal regulations concerning commune self-government duties and the responsibilities of their local authorities related to the analysed issue. Emilia Maria Ordyniec 124 A wide range of the duties of local authorities, and their responsibilities, imposed by the legislator confirms the importance of the role of commune self-government in the development of sustainable community. The proper functioning of local government requires mutual cooperation of local authorities as well as all services and citizens.
