Abstract

EN The aim of this paper is to discuss the genesis, process and consequences of crucial assassinations and political revolutions which occurred in Turkey in the 20th and 21th century. It is essential to consider numerous political conditionings, as social relations, which have created the necessity of changes in the political system of Turkey, are to be kept in mind. The thesis has been accepted that Turkey, in the 20th and at the beginning of the 21st century, was a country susceptible to revolution attempts and political-military assassinations, which posed a threat to the national security and internal stability, especially of political and constitutional nature. This paper presents, in chronological order, the causes, processes and effects of assassinations to gain political power in Turkeyfrom the beginning of the 20th century onwards, with special consideration given to their impact on the internal stability and the status of Turkey in the arena of international politics.
