Abstract

EN NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) is a military alliance established in 1949 by Western countries to counter Soviet expansion during the Cold War. It operates on the principle of collective defense, meaning an attack on one member is considered an attack on all. In 2024, NATO marked its 75th anniversary of upholding collective defense. Since its establishment, the transatlantic alliance has grown from 12 founding members to 32 member countries. Finland and Sweden became the most recent members in response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.405) Prior to 2022, while various experts held differing visions and concepts regarding NATO’s policies, some even expressing doubts about the alliance’s stable future, the Russian invasion of Ukraine has fundamentally altered the security landscape
