Abstract

EN Roman Dmowski played an important role from the viewpoint of creating Poland's national security. This is evidenced by his activity in a number of associations and groups that fought for the survival of Polish identity in the period from the 1980s to the moment of regaining independence. This role of his manifested itself primarily in connection with the First World War. Thanks to the implementation of Dmowski’s political plan Poles were recognized as allies of the countries victorious in the First World War. It should also be noted that it was Dmowski who headed the Polish National Committee, which supervised the creation of the Blue Army in France. His role in creating security was also revealed in the interwar period, when he held the positions of a deputy and minister of foreign affairs. In this respect, his journalistic activity turned out to be equally important. Through his writings, he shaped the way of thinking, especially of the young generation of Poles, about matters concerning the nation. However, this influence was not always positive. It is enough to mention the often anti-Semitic face of the ideas he preached, but also his faith in the conspiracy theory of history. The aim of this dissertation was to present the concept of Polish national security, which is contained in the thought of Roman Dmowski. The subject of the analysis were mainly texts published by him from the 1880s until the second half of the 1930s. Achieving this goal made it possible to fill the gap existing in the science of security - to present an area of knowledge that has not been explored so far. Its utilitarian goal, in turn, was to indicate the conclusions for the contemporary creation of security, which are born in connection with the analysis of Dmowski's writings. In the course of his research, the author of the dissertation mainly used the method of analysis and criticism of literature, which included both books and articles written by Dmowski, articles and books written by security researchers or researchers of Dmowski's thought. Moreover, the comparative method was used, as well as two types of reasoning - induction and deduction.
