Streszczenie

EN Nowadays, with the growing role of information and the increasing appreciation of knowledge, concepts related to shaping intangible resources return to scientific discourse. Often the concepts of information and knowledge are used interchange- ably in scientific considerations, which is not correct. Both are theoretically known, but it is worth understanding the links between these concepts, especi- ally in a scientific context. Therefore, the aim of the article is to analyze the terminological scope of “information management” and “knowledge manage- ment”. Thus, the subject of the proceedings will be the way information is perceived as well as the way in which knowledge is captured. Therefore, the question will be clarified – why these concepts should not be used interchange- ably, in what aspects they are consistent, and where are their differences. As a result, it will be indicated – where is the fundamental issue that distinguishes knowledge management from information management. In the cognition process, the results of theoretical research were used, especially the effects of literature analysis and the results of indirect non-standardized observation, as well as the results of interviews conducted in the field of information processing and know- ledge management in relation to the Armed Forces. It is also worth emphasizing that adopting a specific perspective of knowledge perception determines the perspective of understanding knowledge management itself in the armed forces.
