Abstract

EN In the conclusion, the importance of the Council of Europe Convention on Cybercrime is once again emphasised, pointing out that it is the only international agreement on cybercrime signed by such a significant number of countries, and at the same time constitutes a model for many countries that have not signed it. It is pointed out that it was becoming obsolete – it was opened for signature in 2001. Unfortunately, extensive work on a UN convention to replace it (International Convention on Counteracting the Use of Information and Communication Technologies for Criminal Purposes), undertaken in 2022, stalled in 2024.
