Abstract
EN Security as an ambiguous, factual, and conscious being is a partitioning category that subordinates contemporary areas reserved for other scientific disciplines. Possessing systemic features: boundaries–environment, changeability in time, subjectivity, mutual internal and external relations link physical and conceptual diversity into a kind of “mega existence” of science. Defence as a branch of the national security is nonetheless an independent entity functionally connected with the National Security System. These beings should function in selected sets of relations: similarity, equivalence, equality, order. Distinctive features of the defence system: responsibility and universality, purposefulness, continuity, secretiveness (secretiveness), specialization and cooperation confirm in our opinion that it is a key element of the National Security System. Its key value to society is responsibility and continuity, and its strength is evidenced by universality.
