Abstract
EN Paper discusses terms and stipulations of the functioning of the archival information system Cyfrowe Archiwum (Digital Archive) of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN). IPN’s Archive gathers and administrates the records of institutions of the former Communist security apparatus, and is lawfully obliged to provide access to those records. The condition of acquired records, the way of their transfer from the institutions that previously managed them (mainly the state security agencies) and gained inventories made the building of the new electronic inventory aid necessary. The assumed electronic inventory was expected to provide quick access to the information concerning the records. After initial attempts to build isolated databases and information systems, the IPN’s data resources were integrated, and then transferred to the new system Cyfrowe Archiwum (CA) – the archival information system, digitized data resource and archival workflow control system. CA serves also as a basis for generating the data published in the IPN’s on-line Inwentarz Archiwalny (Archival Inventory).
