EN Today, the security architecture of the Republic of Poland, based mainly on the involvement in the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union, faces the greatest challenges since the collapse of the USSR. The changing political and military situation, the development of civil and military technology, the growing importance of information, activities below the threshold of war and hybrid activities significantly affect all categories of the art of war, including the tactics of the land forces and their capabilities. In addition, the analysis of the experiences of the armed conflicts of the last 30 years, including the ongoing war in Ukraine, allows for the observation of changes in the methods of fighting with the use of modern reconnaissance systems, weapons and military command support, which significantly increase the combat capabilities of the armed forces. The policy of the Russian Federation poses a real threat to the interests of the Polish state, and this fact will remain unchanged in the near future. This is confirmed by Russia's participation in subsequent conflicts, where it tests its capabilities, analyzes the course of modernization and the validity of the doctrines of using its forces. It is particularly important that Moscow can operate in the cyber, propaganda and narrative space, without having to enter the territory of another country, which was verified in the exercise Zapad-21. Nevertheless, the war in Ukraine also confirmed the readiness of the Russian Federation to conduct a regular, symmetrical armed conflict on the territory of the enemy country. For this reason, Poland, being a border state of the NATO alliance, should specialize in anti-surprise capabilities, such as reconnaissance and intelligence, cyberspace defense, air and missile defense, as well as military readiness and mobility.
